How to accommodate image and text in a single cell in the grid.

Is it possible to have a image file and some text together in a single cell.

Yes, you can define a format

Yes, you can define a format function for any cell (look at the tests in the grid package if you are unsure how to do this) and you can format the cell just about anyway. We did this for a grid that had stock quotes, if the price was up it was added with a green up arrow, down a red down arrow. Lot of down arrows today.
